Frequently asked questions

Why was my SSIC code automatically changed from 85409 to 85509?
Singapore's national industrial classification was updated from SSIC 2020 to SSIC 2025, effective 9 May 2026. ACRA's BizFile+ system automatically mapped every existing entity to its closest SSIC 2025 equivalent using the official SingStat correspondence table. The code SSIC 85409 (Training courses n.e.c.) was reclassified to SSIC 85509 (Training courses n.e.c.) under that mapping.
Do I need to take any action?
Usually no. If your business activity is unchanged, the new code accurately reflects it under SSIC 2025 and no manual update is needed. You should only update if (a) the auto-mapped code doesn't match what you actually do, (b) your activity has changed independently, or (c) you claim a sector-specific licence or grant tied to the old code.
How many Singapore companies were affected by this specific recode?
Based on the change log we've maintained since the 9 May 2026 cutover, 11,034 companies have been reclassified from SSIC 85409 to SSIC 85509. Of those, 7,170 had it as their primary SSIC code and 3,864 as a secondary code.
What's the difference between SSIC 85409 and SSIC 85509?
Both codes describe Training courses n.e.c.. The change is a renumbering under SSIC 2025 with no scope change — the activity definition is the same.
Where can I look up other SSIC 2020 to 2025 mappings?
Use our SSIC 2020 → 2025 lookup tool to find the new code for any old SSIC code, or read the SSIC 2025 overview for the full list of structural changes (including the Section J split into J and K).
