SSIC 2025: What Changed from SSIC 2020
Singapore Standard Industrial Classification 2025 replaced SSIC 2020 on 9 May 2026. Section J was split into two sections, and over 1,500 codes were revised, added, or merged to reflect AI, renewable energy, and digital service activities. This page summarises every change and provides a lookup for any old SSIC 2020 code.
The headline change: Section J was split
In SSIC 2020, Section J was a single bucket called "Information and Communications". SSIC 2025 splits it into two distinct sections that better reflect modern industries. Every subsequent section letter (K through V) shifts up by one.
Publishing, Broadcasting, and Content Production and Distribution Activities
Book/newspaper/software publishing, motion picture & TV production, radio & TV broadcasting, streaming platforms, online gaming/video sites, and IP licensing of published content.
Telecommunications, Computer Programming, Consultancy, Computing Infrastructure, and Other Information Service Activities
Telecom services, software development & IT consultancy, data processing, hosting, online marketplaces operating on commission, and search engines.
Old SSIC 2020 Section K (Financial and Insurance) is now Section L. Every later section shifts up by one — Section U (Activities of Households) is now V.

What you should do
ACRA auto-mapped every existing entity's SSIC code on 9 May 2026 using SingStat's correspondence tables. For most companies that's the end of it. But you should still verify — the auto-mapping picks a default when a SSIC 2020 code was split, and the default may not match your actual activity.

Frequently asked questions
When does SSIC 2025 take effect?
9 May 2026. From that date, BizFile+ uses SSIC 2025 for all new entity registrations and SSIC code updates. Existing entities were auto-mapped on the same day.
Do I need to manually update my SSIC code?
Not in most cases. ACRA's system automatically mapped every entity's SSIC 2020 code to the closest SSIC 2025 equivalent using SingStat's correspondence table. You only need to update if (a) your business activity has changed, (b) the auto-mapping picked the wrong option from a split, or (c) you want a more accurate code than the default mapping.
What changed structurally between SSIC 2020 and 2025?
The biggest change: Section J (Information and Communications) was split into two sections — Section J (Publishing, Broadcasting and Content) and Section K (Telecommunications, Computer Programming, Computing Infrastructure). Every subsequent section letter (K, L, M, ..., U) shifts up by one. Over 1,500 individual codes were also revised — typically by adding more granular sub-codes for AI, renewable energy, digital platforms, and similar emerging activities.
How is SSIC 2025 aligned with international standards?
SSIC 2025 is aligned with ISIC Rev. 5 (the UN's International Standard Industrial Classification, fifth revision). The 5-digit class numbers stay close to ISIC equivalents to make cross-border data comparison easier.
Will my licences, grants, or tax incentives still apply with the new code?
Generally yes — the underlying business activity is unchanged. But where a SSIC 2020 code was split into multiple SSIC 2025 codes with different regulatory implications (e.g., a generic 'IT consultancy' code split into 'IT consultancy' and 'IT cybersecurity consultancy'), the licence or grant scheme may now apply to only one of the new codes. Check with the relevant agency if you're claiming a sector-specific incentive.
Where can I download the official correspondence table?
SingStat publishes both an Excel and PDF version on its website at singstat.gov.sg under Standard Classifications → SSIC. The Excel file is the most useful — it lists every SSIC 2020 code and its SSIC 2025 successor(s).
